Professor C.M. Sharma obtained his M.Sc. & PhD degrees from H.N.B. Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal in the Years 1981 and 86, respectively, and joined the University as lecturer in August, 1985. He had also obtained PG Diploma in Forestry & Ecology from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun with Distinction in the year 1992. From August 1986 to March 2007 he taught Forestry at UG & PG levels in different capacities, i.e., Lecturer, Senior Lecturer & Reader. In his more than 20 yrs of Forestry teaching experience he also served as head of the Department of Forestry for more than 5 years. He was also appointed as the Professor of Forestry (in absentia) at Mizoram Central University, Aizawl in the year 2006. Afterwards, he was appointed as the Professor of Botany at H.N.B. Garhwal University in March 2007 and had also started a Department of Remote Sensing & GIS Applications at HNB Garhwal University, in the year 2007, where he was appointed Coordinator of the Department. In the year 2010 Professor Sharma was appointed as the Chairman of UGC review committee for on the spot inspection of Forest Research Institute, Dehradun by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi to review the status of FRI Deemed University. Till now More than 15 research students have obtained their PhD Degree in Forestry & Botany Disciplines under his supervision. He has published more than 130 Research paper in various national & International Journal. His main areas of research are Forest Ecology, Tree Improvement and Remote Sensing.
